Talent scouts are scouring the country for performers to represent the city in this freestyle dance-off. For the fourth year running, MAOAM®, everyone's favourite fruit chew, has teamed up with top teen event organisers CLUBDTV.com (previously Clubdetention.com), TV Hits magazine and Teentoday.co.uk to bring you MAOAM® Dance Mayhem 2007. Those who make it past the first audition stage will be invited to showcase their talent at the semi-finals, to audiences of thousands and an expert judging panel. During the regional heats entrants will be asked to perform a rehearsed two minute original, choreographed routine. They will also be challenged to perform an impromptu freestyle dance routine (between two to five minutes) using music that the DJ has chosen at random. Difference and folly are acts of revolt in a homogenised, intolerant and repressive society. Each character is, in his own way, a distinct one soul entrapped in a guilty net. In the non-verbal performance Down-a, the senses become superior to the mind. The audience has to walk the tightrope between reality and madness and, in a flood of senses, is confronted with its deepest fears, emotions and obsessions. Down-a, down-a (vai giù, vai giù) is a refrain composed by an italian madrigalist. Down-a is part of the “Project Something in between”. The project has been ideated linked to the evocative history of the memory of psychiatric hospitals and the healing of the legacy of suffering and embarrassment associated to them.
