Learn to dance Egyptian style! Come join our small friendly class in a purpose built dance studio with mirrors and sprung floor. In these classes you will learn the basic techniques of Egyptian dance, as well as how to interpret the music yourself! Relax and enjoy moving your body to the sounds of Egyptian 'baladi'- or urban street jazz!These classes are taught by Ellie- an Associate member of the Raqs Sharqi Society who recognise her high standards in performance and teaching. Diane and Ellie are two dancers based in Dorset who are passionate about Egyptian dance. They have both studied for some years with notable teachers in the UK, Europe and Egypt. Their love of the dance has inspired an alliance to further their creative ideas, the most recent being 'The Characters of the Moulid!'. They aim to raise the profile of Egyptian dance in Dorset, foster good relations with dancers of other styles of Arabic dance and bring guest Raqs Sharqi teachers to Dorset.
