Ceilidh Dance


Scottish Country, Scottish Ceilidh Instruction, Dancing. Doors open 19:15.Ceilidh dancing is social party dancing. A great evening out for singles and couples. Dances are taught and there are usually dancers present to help you through. The music will lift you to new levels of enjoyment. Come on out and try it, you will never forget the fun and friends. The classes are on Sept. 17, Oct. 15 and Nov. 19. They are held at St. Leonard's Anglican Church, 25 Wanless Ave. (Yonge and Lawrence) 2 short blocks north of Lawrence. Easily accessible by TTC.

Dances from the Carole Skinner


Scottish Country Instruction at Int/Advanced level, Practice at Int/Advanced level, Social Dancing at Int/Advanced level. Doors open 13:45. For further details: Info. You probably have heard of the popular autumn trips to Scotland led by Carole Skinner and Stewart Bennett. We can't all go (particularly because this year's trip is SOLD OUT) but you can experience some of the dances from Carole's new "trip" dance book. . all dances devised by Carole, and each with an inspiration or reference to an incident or fellow traveller. At Broadlands, 2:00-4:pm. Carole is a great teacher who truly enjoys teaching and dancing. Come out for this enjoyable afternoon.

November Monthly Dance


Scottish Country Social Dancing at Beginner to Int/Advanced level. Doors open 19:15. For further details: Info. Come on out and dance to the fabulous music of Bobby Brown and The Scottish Accent. "Who's Who" -- Ann Campbell Dances at Broadlands


Scottish Country Instruction, Social Dancing at Int/Advanced level. Doors open 13:45. For further details: Info. Ann Campbell dances with the Toronto Association, and has written a number of dances, for other dancers in Toronto and about events that have happened. come out and dance the dances from Ann Campbell's new dance collection: "Who's Who in Toronto". This afternoon, at Broadlands Paul Maloney will teach selected dances from the book. Paul was vitally involved in the development of Who's Who -- it was he who researched and chose the suggested music for each dance that was not devised with a specific Bobby Brown track in mind. You can expect great music and a great dance experience. At Broadlands, 2:00-4:pm.

St Andrew's Ball


Scottish Country, Scottish Ceilidh Ball, Social Dancing. Doors open 18:00. Admission $130.00. Ceud Mille Failte - “A Hundred Thousand Welcomes” await you at 2010 St. Andrew's Ball, co-sponsored by the 48th Highlanders of Canada and the St. Andrew's Society of Toronto. Join us for an elegant evening on Saturday, November 27th at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, where formally attired guests will be piped in to the Canadian Room, following a reception that begins at 6 pm. Dinner music will be provided by the Pipers of the 48th Highlanders while Robert Burns's “Address To A Haggis” will set the stage for a fine gourmet dinner (haggis included). The Ball commences with the traditional Grand March to the Canadian Room, where the Pipes and Drums of the 48th will play stirring jigs and reels for Ceilidh Dancing. Meanwhile Scottish Country Dancing, to the lively music of Bobby Brown and the Scottish Accent, brings the Ballroom to life. As a fitting climax to a great evening, the Ball will end with the customary display of pipes and drums by the full band of the 48th Highlanders of Canada. Price for a grand evening of elegance, dancing and fun is $130 per person. Ceilidh Dance practices at Moss Park Armoury November 9, 16, 23, at 8pm. Country Dance practice November 9, 23 at 7:30pm. For non-dancers, the pageantry of colourful kilts and military uniforms, the thrilling music and lively dancing provide a full evening's entertainment.

Family Night Christmas Dance


Scottish Country Live, Party, Practice, Social Dancing. Doors open 18:45. For further details: Info. Saturday, Dec 11 - Family Christmas Dance (starts @ 7:30) The December Monthly Dance is always a lot of fun, with folk in colourful Chistmassy outfits and with lots of young people raring to dance. The evening is specially designed for families with dances that kids and their parents can get through with the help of cheerful experienced dancers. We'll have great music by The Scottish Accent. Host groups are Glenview, Humbercrest, and Erin Mills (Tues). Briefers are Sandra Scott, Fiona Philip, and Keith Bark. Members $22; non-Members $28; Students (18-25) $10; Youth and Spectators $5. (HST included in all prices quoted.) Dancing starts promptly at 7:30pm at Crescent School. All dances will be briefed and walked.

Erin Mills Hogmanay Ball


Scottish Country, Scottish Ceilidh Live, Holiday, Party, Social Dancing. Admission $70.00. For further details: Info. Friday, Dec 31 - Erin Mills Hogmanay Ball Keith Bark: Once again we are running the Erin Mills Hogmanay Ball at historic Clarke Memorial Hall in Mississauga. Bobby Brown and the Scottish Accent will be playing for the Ball. There will be a pre-ball reception and dancing from 8pm to midnight with a mid-evening break for snacks. The cost for the Ball is $70. Ceilidh Classes


Scottish Ceilidh Instruction, Practice, Social Dancing. Doors open 19:00. For further details: Info. Our Ceilidh classes return. You don't have to be Scottish, or have a partner. Ceilidh dancing is party dancing in the Scottish tradition, but anyone can learn. Come out and meet Ian, our marvelous teacher and meet new friends or renew old friendships. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for students and $2 for children. Toronto Tartan Ball


Scottish Country Ball, Live, Social Dancing at Int/Advanced level. Contact organiser for times and further details. Doors open 18:00. Admission $110.00. Licensed Bar. Non-Alcoholic Bar. For further details: Info. It's not too early to start thinking about the 48th Tartan Ball. It is the highlight of the dancing season. I look back at last year's ball with fond memories. It was full of fun. There is a video posted of our guests of honour dancing The White Cockade, and a gallery of pictures (www.rscdstoronto.org). . have a look, here, they're worth a look. If you have never been to the Tartan Ball, the video and pictures will give you an idea of the excitement and grandeur of the evening. This year's Ball promises to be even better. More details to come — the Tartan Ball Committee are hard at work planning a spectacular evening for your enjoyment. Watch for the ticket order forms in the November issue of Set & Link.
