Baroque dance, a precursor of classical ballet from the late 17th/early 18th centuries, was danced at royal balls and on the stage. The dance rhythms may be familiar to those with a knowledge of the music of the period, and include the minuet, sarabande, bourée, gavotte, gigue and the French courante. Composers to write Baroque dance music include Lully, Purcell and Handel. Weekly class in Baroque dance. Complete beginners welcome. Fee reductions for concessions, full-time students, or if you pay for the term in advance.

Weekly class in 12th to early 20th Century dance. Complete beginners welcome. Classes cover social dances from a variety of periods such as: the Elizabethan pavane, galliarde and almaine, 17th and 18th century English country dances (as seen in film adaptations of books by Jane Austen), Regency waltz, Victorian dances (polka, schottische etc.), and ragtime dances. The dances chosen for a particular class may depend on the number of students present that day. Fee reductions for concessions, full-time students, or if you pay for the term in advance.

Baroque Workshop, Instruction at Beginner to Advanced level. Admission £22.00. To book or for further details: Info, Tel: 029 2049 0680. Baroque dance workshop for all levels. The perfect introduction for those new to Baroque dance (European dance from the early 18th-century). Times: Morning session: 11:00-1:00; Afternoon session: 2:00-4:00. Beginners who are attending only one session must attend the morning session. Fee reductions available for those on a low income. This workshop will be followed by a series of weekly evening classes.
